GLOBAL CHIEF DESIGN OFFICER, IBM iX
Billy is a global leader within IBM Consulting and leads a team of 7,000+ designers, engineers and consultants to create human-centered, digital experiences that drive business outcomes. Prior to joining IBM in 2017, he held executive leadership roles at Digitas, eBay, and Citi where he managed the growth and change of the organizations and the day-to-day activities of global creative teams.
2015 – 2016
As the Global Head of Design, Billy was tasked with creating and leading a global network of internal design studios and external creative agencies to improve the omni-channel, customer experience. In a short period of time, Billy created a team optimized for customer-centric strategy, design thinking and agile development, and was a founding member of Citi FinTech.
2012 – 2015
As Global Head of Creative for eBay Enterprise and Chief Creative Officer for True Action and The Silverlign Group, Billy led over 120 people across 11 offices to deliver integrated commerce solutions for brands including Levi’s, Sony, and Wells Fargo. He was also a member of the eBay Inc. Design Advisory Board led by John Maeda focused on activating Design Thinking.
2004 – 2012
Serving as SVP, Executive Creative Director in the New York, Stamford and Atlanta offices and Mobile Practice Lead for North America, Billy led a variety of integrated marketing platforms and digital vision assignments for American Express, Delta Air Lines, Kraft Foods and many others. He was instrumental in winning new business from Cadillac, Equifax, Hertz, Post, and Starburst.

ADOBE MAX 2023
Billy delivered a keynote address at the 2023 Adobe MAX conference. He shared his views on the impact of Generative AI on experience design and the design profession that was informed by an IBM survey to over 1,500 business and creative leaders globally.
BRAINSTORM DESIGN 2022
Billy joined a panel moderated by Alan Murray, CEO of Fortune, focused on building more resilient organization through business design. Billy presented insights from his research with the IBV and discussed the strategies and practices with other panelists.
AMERICA BY DESIGN
Billy and the IBM iX team responsible for the US Open tennis fan experience design were featured on Season 2 of America by Design, a TV program that provides a national audience with deep insights into what it takes to create and deliver the new and the impossible.
